![]() I'm really looking at redesigning everything right now, so looking for any good ideas. Is there some better real-time interface with Matlab I am missing, or should I just stop using Matlab? E.g., would simulink provide something better? Or perhaps is there some other alternative? Or maybe the strategy of running everything with timer functions is a mistake? It is barely adequate, as the timing of nested timer functions has jitter of about 50ms, and I have talked extensively to the people at Matlab and they said I'm not going to get much better than that when there is a main program loop running in the foreground. Right now I use the data acquisition toolbox with lots of timer functions running at the same time. at the same time I emit about twelve digital outputs to hardware in my shop. I also take in digital inputs (about five of them). I take in one to six analog inputs simultaneously, process them, and do a bunch of stuff. I want to build a basic setup that collects basic digital I-O, and analog inputs for a simple atmospheric modeller. The main options seem to be the data acquisition toolbox, on one hand, and simulink-based applications on the other. ![]()
